Polymer and Rubber Innovation (KMUTT)
Profile
Award: 3 Rising STAR Award 2022 from: Polymer Society of Thailand, Thailand/ Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Awarded by Faculty)/King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Awarded by University)
Although Dr. Nakaramontri has just received a position for the lecturer at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) for approximately 3.5 years, he has been worked with natural rubber (NR) and epoxidized NR for at least 10 years. He has started with preparation and characterization of the water-swellable NR and ENR composites before changing the rubber filed to be the producing of flexible electronic devices based on both conductive rubber composites. With chance to extend his research in KMUTT, several innovative products with publications are established. He has more than 25 publication and 10 pretty patents within 3 years of working position which mostly based on NR and ENR products for the field of elastic-responded composites. According to this achievement, values of NR and ENR material are drastically increased relating to the shoes, gloves, tires, recycled wastes, complexed structural materials, and mattresses. Two possibilities of NR production were targeted by (i) using NR as much as we can, and (ii) using less NR but high price. This cause various industries and universities connection inter- and intra-country and therefore the “Rising STAR” was awarded to Dr.Nakaramontri. This has proven that the NR can provide several products which can change its specific properties to be high flexibility and resilience. Also, the NR in medical field is now paying attention in the world and we are recently the leading team for such NR material to gain antibacterial activities through proven specific mechanism. The recent achievement together with strong collaboration researching can change completely the new releasing flexible material particularly in the field elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer blends.
